We spent a lot of time being thoughtful and intentional about the way that we choose to ship our products.  We are SO excited to share more about our packaging choice.

Did you know? It is estimated that every year millions of tonnes (metric tons) of plastic pollution enters the ocean.  We use POLLAST!C Packaging made from 100% Ocean Bound Plastic to ship our products.

What Is Ocean Bound Plastic?

In order to meet the qualification of Ocean Bound Plastic, the plastic waste must meet the following criteria:

  • It has been, or would be, abandoned
  • It is in an area with no formal waste management infrastructure
  • It is found within 50km (31ish miles) of the coastline

Where Do The Materials for POLLAST!C Come From?

The Ocean Bound Plastic used to make our shipping bags is made from abandoned plastic pollution collected in coastal communities throughout Southeast Asia.  As mentioned above, the communities chosen have no waste management infrastructure in place.  Collecting Ocean Bound Plastic in these communities not only helps to clean up the community, making it a better place to work and live, but also prevents plastic from polluting our beautiful oceans.

Each POLLAST!C mailer bag includes a tracking number that allows you to see where the plastic waste used to make your bag came from so you can see the area that your purchase is impacting!

Obviously Waste In the Ocean Is Bad But Why Is It SO Important To Collect The Plastic Before It Gets Into the Ocean?

Plastic waste that may seem a great distance away from the shoreline often ends up finding its way to the ocean via waterways.  Being in a river or the ocean speeds up the process of plastic degrading into microplastics and it becomes more difficult to collect and recycle.

Life Cycle of POLLAST!C

We absolutely encourage you to reuse our packaging!  Each mailer bag comes with instructions printed on the outside of the bag for where to cut so you can reuse them easily AND there is an additional adhesive strip, making it super easy to reuse.  Once you can no longer reuse the bag, it can be recycled with soft plastics, further increasing the lifecycle of the materials.

Utilizing POLLAST!C Packaging is just the start of our sustainability journey and we are so proud of the work we are doing to honor the planet.

Much love!
